2017/04/27 MVC Transferred BCG and Snake Anti-venom Production Technology from CDC

Due to continuous global shortage in BCG and snake anti-venom, MVC signed a technology transfer contract with Taiwan CDC today on lyophilized BCG and snake anti-venom production to secure local supply.

Based on the contract, Taiwan CDC will also offer assistance in personnel training, test production and license application to speed up the transfer process. After establishing BCG and snake anti-venom production platform, MVC aims to ensure all local demands are fulfilled before exporting to overseas market.

Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine
BCG vaccine is live attenuated bacterial vaccine to prevent tuberculosis, especially tuberculous meningitis.

Snake anti-venom
There are six major poisonous snakes in Taiwan: pointed-scaled pit viper, many-branded krait, Chinese cobra, hundred pacer, Chinese green tree viper and Siamese Russell's viper. MVC transferred production technology of 4 snake anti-venom products from CDC to protect snake bites from the 6 poisonous snakes.
